Friday Frenzy

It's hard to say who will win tonight's game in Cranbrook between the Rebels and Kootenay Ice.

But if the season series is any indication it'll be a close game that comes down to the wire. Each team has won three times so far this season (overtime and shootouts included) with the Rebels outscoring the Ice by a slim 15-14 margin.

The Rebels, of course, will be playing short-staffed tonight. But that's nothing new for this club as they have done a remarkable job of soldiering on despite the ridiculous amount of injuries they have suffered.

Brandon enters tonight with a four point lead over the Rebels for eighth in the WHL Eastern Conference (Rebels have played two less games). The Wheat Kings visit Swift Current tonight.

Game time for the Rebels and Ice is 7pm. Cam Moon has the pregame show on 106.7 The Drive starting at 6:50.

Jason Gregor of Team 1260 radio in Edmonton recently chatted with Jesse Wallin for an interview for the Oilers Nation website. It has some real good insight into the Rebels GM and Head Coach himself. You can read the interview here...

The Bentley Generals fell 4-3 in overtime to the Lloydminster Border Kings in game one of the Chinook Hockey League final. Trevor Read scored the game winner for LBK on a powerplay with 11 seconds left in the first overtime period. Jason Lundmark had a goal and an assist for Bentley in the loss. Game two in the best-of-three series goes tomorrow (Saturday) night in Bentley at 7pm. Game three, if necessary, will take place in Lloydminster on Sunday.

The Red Deer Optimist Rebels were upset 6-3 by the Calgary Flames last night in Alberta Midget Hockey League action. The Rebels host Conner Bleackley and the UFA Bisons tomorrow at 4:45pm at the Red Deer Arena.

Another huge win last night for the RDC Queens hockey team. They beat Grant MacEwan 2-1 to pull even with SAIT for the final playoff spot in the ACAC.

- More local notes to come later this morning...
