What a difference a day makes. 50 shots on goal, 7 goals and complete domination of the Kootenay Ice Saturday night at the Enmax Centrium. However, the win may have come at a hefty price, as Landon Ferraro left with a knee injury in the second period.
Here's the summary:
| 1. R.D Petrovic, (1) (Elson), 2:49 | |
| 1. KTN McNabb, (1) (Sylvester, Rintoul), 15:47 (PP | |

| 2. R.D Cowen, (1) (Morin, Mappin), 3:58 | |
| 2. R.D Coetzee, (1) (Elson), 15:28 | |
| 3. R.D Coetzee, (2) (Redmond, Kambeitz), 7:18 (PP) | |
| 3. R.D Persson, (1) (Mappin, Bell), 8:53 | |
| 3. R.D Mappin, (1) (Nugent-Hopkins), 10:45 (PP) -Minutes after a five on five line brawl (Elson, Witt, Archer, Cowen, Redmond) Ferraro was crosschecked into the boards by Ice F Dustin Sylvester. He left under his own power, but didn't return to the game. Landon went for an MRI, and at this point, it's not thought to be the ACL or MCL. The team will find out more this week. -G Darcy Kuemper was not busy, but stopped 14 of 15 shots to rebound from a subpar outing last night, -17 year-old F Turner Elson quickly endeared himself to the fans in his first WHL game, assisting on a pair of goals and dropping the gloves twice. Jesse Wallin calls the St. Albert native a "throwback". He was a pain all night. -After tough nights at the office Friday, I thought D Alex Petrovic and D Justin Weller were both very good, especially after minute-eater Colin Archer was given a game misconduct. Weller brought the fans out of their seats about four times with bone jarring hits. -Adam Kambeitz, for a second straight night, was one of Red Deer's best, most responsible players. I'm really liking the start to his season. -Red Deer returns to action Friday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who have given up 15 goals in two losses to start the season |
